★ 4.2Sea Ray 210 SPX OutboardThe 210 SPX Outboard is a well-executed family bowrider that balances zippy performance, casual cruising, and watersports capability. ★ 4.1Sea Ray 310 (33ft) - Boston Harbor & Surrounding IslandsA well-built early-2000s express cruiser with classic Sea Ray styling, a practical V-drive layout, and enough space for day cruising or weekend use. It is not especially fuel-efficient, but it remains a capable, balanced choice if maintained carefully.Read review →Founded in Detroit in 1959, Sea Ray is an American builder of fiberglass sport boats and cruisers, owned by Brunswick Corporation since 1986. Its Sundancer line, introduced in 1975, set the pattern for the American express cruiser.
Cornelius (C.N.) Ray, known in the industry as Connie, started the company as Ray Industries and built its first fiberglass boats at a plant in Oxford, Michigan. He ran it independently for 27 years before selling to Brunswick in 1986 for $350 million. Sea Ray has operated inside Brunswick Boat Group ever since, with headquarters in Knoxville, Tennessee, and Bayliner as a sister brand in the same group.
Today's catalog counts about 26 models in three groups. SPX sport boats run 19 to 23 feet and the SLX series stretches from 26 to 40 feet; SDX deck boats cover 25 to 29 feet; Sundancer cabin cruisers at 32 and 37 feet handle overnight trips. Nothing in the new range passes 40 feet, the length of the SLX 400. The larger Sundancers and sport yachts Sea Ray built in earlier decades now change hands on the used market instead.
That used market is deep. Sundancers such as the 40, the 48 and the 510 appear constantly in brokerage listings. On GetBoat, Sea Ray listings split between charter boats and brokerage sales, and Sundancers from 40 to 60 feet are the most common models among them.
