★ 4.1bayliner vr6The 2021 Bayliner VR6 is a practical 23-foot family bowrider with a roomy layout, modest draft, and straightforward handling. More than 400 dealers in over 60 countries carry the brand.
Orin Edson and the Brunswick era
Orin Edson founded Bayliner in 1957. Brunswick bought the company from him in 1986 for 425 million dollars and placed it in the Brunswick Boat Group, where it sits next to Sea Ray, another Brunswick marque. United States production centers on Tennessee, with facilities in Knoxville and Dandridge, while plants in Reynosa, Mexico, in Portugal and in Brazil serve other markets.
Element, VR, DX and Trophy series
Today's range covers four families. Element models ride the brand's M-Hull, a bottom designed for stability and predictable handling. VR bowriders such as the VR4 and VR6 fill the classic family runabout role, while DX deck boats add roomier layouts and easy towing. Trophy center console and pilothouse boats cover fishing, with the T24CC joining the series for 2026. The company still advertises new models priced under 32,000 dollars.
Bayliner on the rental and used market
Volume defines the brand secondhand: models such as the Bayliner 175 and 185 bowriders and the 2455 Ciera cruiser circulate widely, and small Bayliners are a staple of vacation rental fleets. Bigger Bayliners from earlier eras, such as the 3888 and the 4085 Avanti, also survive in numbers even though the current lineup stops at 26 feet. GetBoat lists Bayliner bowriders and Element models for rent and for sale.
