Urteil
The Lagoon 50 is a spacious cruising catamaran with strong livability, easy deck access and stable passage-making. It is not a performance catamaran, but for relaxed family or charter cruising it offers excellent comfort and a well-proven layout.
Vorteile
- +Very large beam creates generous saloon and cockpit space
- +Shallow draft suits anchoring and coastal cruising
- +Stable platform with predictable sailing manners
- +Strong charter-friendly livability and guest separation
- +Twin engines aid docking and close-quarters control
Nachteile
- −Wide beam can limit marina berth flexibility
- −Not as lively or fast as more performance-oriented cats
- −High coachroof and large profile increase windage
- −Complex systems can raise maintenance and charter operating costs
The Lagoon 50 is designed around volume and easy living rather than outright speed. Its 14.75 m length, very wide 8.10 m beam and shallow 1.40 m draft give it the signature catamaran benefits of space and access, with a layout aimed at comfortable cruising and charter use rather than sporty sailing.
On the water, the boat is generally regarded as stable and forgiving, with twin diesel engines helping low-speed maneuvering and marina handling. The trade-off is that this is a broad, windage-prone catamaran that prefers steady cruising conditions over spirited performance, so sailhandling is more about ease and balance than excitement.
Comfort is a clear strength. The Lagoon 50’s large saloon, cockpit connection and multiple cabin options make it well suited to groups, and the platform works especially well for island cruising such as Palawan. Value depends on priorities: it is strong if space, comfort and charter appeal matter most, but less compelling if the goal is pure sailing performance or lower upkeep.
