Robertson and Caine is a South African boat builder based in Cape Town. The company was founded in 1991 by John Robertson and the late Jerry Caine, and it builds sailing and power catamarans for export markets. It is best known for producing Leopard catamarans and for supplying charter fleets under brands such as Moorings and Sunsail.
Robertson and Caine was founded in 1991 by John Robertson and the late Jerry Caine. Its headquarters and main boatbuilding operations are in Woodstock, Cape Town, with manufacturing also described as spread across several Cape Town sites. The company has grown from a small partnership into South Africa’s largest boat builder manufacturing for export. It has also been described as one of the largest catamaran builders in the Southern Hemisphere and a top global producer.
The builder focuses on catamarans rather than a broad range of yacht types. Its current production is centered on three sailing catamarans and three power catamarans, with sizes ranging from about 40 to 53 feet. Robertson and Caine supplies boats for world markets and charter use, especially in the North American, Caribbean, Mediterranean and South Pacific regions. Its brand is closely associated with Leopard catamarans and with high-volume cruising catamaran production.
