A Rendsburg shipyard founded in 1905
The yard worked from Rendsburg in Germany's far north for twelve decades. In its later years it concentrated on custom luxury superyachts, engineered one at a time rather than in series, and Sailing Yacht A became the delivery most people attach to the name.
Insolvency and the Lürssen takeover
Money trouble shadowed the yard's final period. Parent group FSG-Nobiskrug went through insolvency in 2021, and Nobiskrug itself filed in December 2024, with proceedings opening on February 1, 2025. Lürssen, the Bremen superyacht and naval builder, then acquired the Rendsburg facilities and made them part of its neighboring Lürssen-Kröger yard. More than 95 percent of the roughly 500 employees agreed to transfer with the site, and unfinished projects, among them a 62-meter yacht, moved to Lürssen facilities for completion. Lürssen said the added capacity would serve both its new-build and refit businesses.
The Nobiskrug name after 2025
There is no standalone Nobiskrug company or website anymore; new work at the Rendsburg site happens under Lürssen. On the water it is a different story. Nobiskrug-built superyachts continue to cruise, charter and change owners, and they appear among GetBoat's charter and sale listings. For buyers, a Nobiskrug hull is now a closed catalog; the fleet under that name is not growing.
