The yard was started in the early 1980s by Dave Christensen, a Vancouver homebuilder and developer who wanted an American-built yacht to his own standard, could not find one, and decided to build it himself.
Composite tri-decks on the Columbia River
Christensen settled into a clear formula: semi-custom motor yachts in vacuum-infused composite fiberglass, most of them tri-decks between 45 and 50 meters, produced in a 180,000 square foot climate controlled plant with a seven acre marina alongside. Hull numbers passed 40 over three decades of production. The best known delivery is Privacy, the 155 foot yacht built for golfer Tiger Woods.
Receivership and the move toward Tennessee
Financial trouble in the mid 2010s pushed the company into receivership, which wound down in 2017. Building continued through the decade: the 49 meter Chasseur and the 50 meter Silver Lining launched in 2016, and the 50 meter Jackpot followed in 2019 as the last yacht completed at the Vancouver plant, which was sold to Vigor Industrial that year. Christensen announced a planned relocation to Tellico Lake, Tennessee, with capacity for yachts up to 225 feet.
The market after Vancouver
Jackpot closed out the Vancouver era, and the company's future output rests on the Tennessee plan. The existing fleet stays busy in the meantime. Christensen tri-decks turn up regularly for charter and for sale, since composite hulls from the 1990s and 2000s remain in active service, and GetBoat lists the brand on both sides of that market.
