What is Baltic Yachts known for?

Baltic Yachts builds custom carbon composite sailing yachts of 50 to 197 feet in Ostrobothnia on Finland's west coast, with over 550 boats launched since 1973. Construction relies on carbon fiber and Kevlar, and the company calls itself the world's leading builder of advanced composite yachts. It is also the largest employer in its home municipality of Larsmo.

Founded in Bosund in 1973

Five boatbuilders started the company in the village of Bosund with the stated aim of building lighter, stiffer and faster yachts. Hulls molded at the original inland site travel 21 kilometers by road to the waterfront yard in Pietarsaari, also known as Jakobstad, which opened in 2009 for fit-out and launching. A service and refit center in Palma, Spain followed in 2014.

The Baltic 175 and current projects

The yard's best-known launch is the Baltic 175 Pink Gin VI, delivered in 2017 as the world's largest carbon fiber sloop and named Sailing Yacht of the Year at the 2018 World Superyacht Awards. The same yacht returned for a nine month refit in 2023 and 2024 and now sails as Ravenger. Recent output includes semi-custom performance cruisers such as the Baltic 67 alongside one-off builds such as the Baltic 142.
