Frequently asked questions

Who owns Amels?
Damen. Kommer Damen bought the family-founded yard in 1991, and Amels now operates within Damen Yachting under managing director Rose Damen, part of the family-owned Damen Shipyards Group.
Where are Amels yachts built?
In Vlissingen, in the southwestern Netherlands. Every Amels since 2003 has been built there, at what the company calls the largest superyacht facility in the Netherlands, with about 1,500 craftspeople on site.
What is an Amels Limited Edition?
A semi-custom superyacht built on a pre-engineered platform with an owner-chosen interior and styling. Dozens have been delivered between 55 and 83 meters, and the current models are the Amels 60 and Amels 80.

Amels is the superyacht brand of the Dutch Damen group and builds Limited Editions and full custom yachts at its Vlissingen shipyard in the Netherlands. The yard dates to 1918, has belonged to Damen since 1991 and today operates within Damen Yachting, the group's dedicated yachting division.

A family yard since 1918

The Amels family founded the business in 1918. Kommer Damen, second-generation owner of Damen Shipyards, bought the yard in 1991, and since 2003 every Amels has been built in Vlissingen, in the southwestern Netherlands. The company calls the site the largest superyacht facility in the country and staffs it with about 1,500 craftspeople. Damen Yachting is now led by managing director Rose Damen, the founding family's third generation, and Katalina, the first Amels superyacht, remains in service.

Limited Editions and full custom yachts

The Limited Editions program pairs a pre-engineered hull and technical platform with owner-specific interiors and styling. Dozens of these yachts between 55 and 83 meters have been delivered across series such as the Amels 180, 188, 206, 242 and 272. The current generation consists of the Amels 60 and Amels 80, the 60 with exterior design by Espen Øino. Full custom projects run alongside the series boats.

Amels on the charter and brokerage market

Amels yachts appear steadily on the charter and brokerage market, and GetBoat lists Amels superyachts for both. Shared platforms mean Limited Editions sister ships can be compared nearly like for like, which is unusual for yachts of 60 meters and more.
