About this boat
As the owner is now based in the UK she is being sold via a local broker. Sale price is plus broker fees. She is registered in the UK.
A rare opportunity to own a classic blue water cruising yacht built by Moody’s of Hamble to Lloyds A1. This is 'A GENUINE ORIGINAL MOODY BUILT YACHT' of which only 29 were built. She has recently been extensively and professionally refurbished to bring her back to her original splendour where the craftsmanship of Moody’s joinery can be clearly seen again.
She was moulded in 1969 but was not launched until 1974. Since then she has had a succession of very careful owners who have appreciated and maintained the MOODY 'inheritance' while adding modern comforts and capabilities.
Despite the ‘motor yacht’ label the Halberdier is great to sail and the central cockpit, long keel, heavy displacement and her classic lines create a fine seakeeping vessel than can be sailed in all weathers.
The current owner has sailed her around the UK and then to the Mediterranean where she is currently based. She has covered over 7,000NM in the last 5 years without a hitch and, with all the resent upgrades and refurbs, is ready to go for the next adventure.
She has a very reliable Perkins 4.107 50hp engine which provides plenty of power in any conditions. The engine and the TMP gearbox were serviced in 2022 and there is a spare TMP gearbox, which has been completely stripped down and serviced, available by separate negotiation. The engine has been regularly maintained as per the Perkins manual. Large quantity of spare engine and boat parts included.
Currently located in Livorno in Northern Italy she is ideally located to cruise down the Italian west coast or north and east to France and Spain or cruise the wider med. If required she can be delivered anywhere in the Mediterranean or back to the UK (at the new owners cost) subject to agreement.
