From Jeanneau racing arm to Beneteau brand
Lagoon began in 1984 inside Jeanneau Techniques Avancées, the composites division of Jeanneau known for offshore racing multihulls. Its first boat, the Lagoon 55, carried race-bred engineering into a catamaran comfortable enough to live aboard, a rare mix at the time. Jeanneau later sold the operation to Construction Navale Bordeaux, and when Groupe Beneteau bought CNB in 1995, Lagoon came with it. Production has stayed in the Bordeaux area ever since, and the 7,000th catamaran left the yard in 2024.
The Lagoon range today
The sailing line runs from the Lagoon 40 and 43 through the 46, 51, 55 and 60 up to the Sixty 5 and the Seventy 7, the flagship. A new Lagoon 47 debuts in 2026 as the replacement for the 46. Lagoon also builds power catamarans, including the Sixty 7. All share the wide beam and shallow draft that made the brand a charter-fleet standard.
