Early history: papal launches and 50-knot MAS boats
The client list ran upmarket early: Baglietto delivered a boat for Pope Leo XIII in 1888. Motorboats arrived at the start of the twentieth century, sold at the time as automobile dinghies, and in 1906 the yard launched the 22.6-meter Giuseppina, then the largest motor yacht built in Italy. During the First World War Baglietto developed MAS fast attack craft for the Italian Navy, and by 1936 its military boats had broken the 50-knot barrier.
Gavio ownership and the current DOM and T-Line ranges
Gavio Group, an Italian industrial holding, took control of Baglietto in 2012 and put about 20 million euros into developing production. The range now has five lines. The aluminum DOM series covers the 34.5-meter DOM115, the 40.9-meter DOM133 and the 46-meter flagship DOM155. The steel-hulled T-Line is built for long-range displacement cruising, with models including the T52 and the 60-meter T60. Fast, Superfast and fully custom programs complete the order book.
