Mykonos is the most-booked charter base in the Cyclades, a cluster of marinas and beach bays inside one of the easiest sailing grounds in Greece. From Tourlos Marina you reach the archaeological island of Delos in 30 minutes, Rhenia's empty white-sand coves in under an hour, and Paros or Naxos in a half-day. The Meltemi wind blows steady from the north in July and August, so most operators offer a captain by default, but a calm morning is the right time to head out for snorkeling on your own RIB. Do I need a license to rent a boat in Mykonos?

For yachts and catamarans you need an ICC, IYT or RYA Day Skipper certificate, or you book with a captain. Smaller motorboats and RIBs under 30 HP can be rented without a license.

What is the best month to charter a boat in Mykonos?

June and September give you warm seas, lighter winds and lower prices. July and August are busiest with the strongest Meltemi.
