Linssen began after the Second World War as a small carpentry and ship-repair business in Maasbracht. In the 1970s, Jos Linssen took over from his father and renamed the company Linssen Yachts BV. The builder has continued as a family firm and says all Linssen yachts are built at the Maasbracht boatyard.

Early model families included the Sturdy line, followed by the SL, SE and SX series, with the Grand Sturdy series becoming the brand’s best-known range from 2005 onward.
