From Kaohsiung to Florida
Alex Chueh founded the company in Kaohsiung in 1977 after agreeing to take over a shipyard from a friend in financial trouble. He soon met the American designer Ed Monk Jr., whose work shaped the early Ocean Alexander models. Chueh died in 2011, but the company he started keeps its headquarters in Kaohsiung. Sales strength in the United States eventually brought manufacturing across the Pacific: a Florida facility delivered the first American built Ocean Alexanders in 2015, and production now spans Taiwan and Florida.
Current Ocean Alexander series
The larger series are Revolution, Legend, Explorer, and Puro; the Divergence 45 is the brand's 45 foot sport yacht. Puro is the newest line: the 35P was unveiled in 2024, and the 30P and 40P are due to debut at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in October 2026.
The used Ocean Alexander market
Nearly five decades of production have left a broad used market. Older Monk era motor yachts circulate alongside recent series boats, and GetBoat's Ocean Alexander listings include the 46, the 60 Classico, and the 70e. For buyers the practical difference between listings is generation: boats from the Taiwan decades sit alongside newer series yachts built since the Florida expansion.
