Riviera

Riviera is an Australian yacht builder established in 1980 in Terrey Hills near Sydney. The company later moved to the Gold Coast, Queensland, where it has remained based and produces luxury motor yachts. Riviera is best known for flybridge yachts and other offshore cruising boats.

Riviera was founded in 1980 by Bill Barry-Cotter in Terrey Hills, north of Sydney, with the first model being the Riviera 38 Mk1. The company relocated to Queensland’s Gold Coast in 1981 and expanded from a small team into a major production yard. By the late 1990s, Riviera had moved into a purpose-built facility at Coomera, which became its headquarters and main manufacturing base. The builder changed ownership several times, including acquisition by Rodney Longhurst in 2012.

Riviera’s core reputation was built on flybridge motor yachts, and the company expanded into open and enclosed flybridge designs, offshore sport boats, and sport yachts. Its early growth included exports to the United States and Europe, and its range developed into multiple model families over time. Riviera has launched more than 5,600 motor yachts across its history, with models commonly built for cruising, entertaining, and offshore use. The builder is associated with Australian production, handcrafted construction, and long-term export demand.
