Cranchi

Cranchi is an Italian boat and yacht builder with roots on Lake Como, where Giovanni Cranchi opened a workshop in San Giovanni di Bellagio in 1866 and registered the business in 1870. The company has remained family-owned and builds motor yachts from its Italian shipyard network, with its history closely tied to the Cranchi family and the Monzino family since 1970. Cranchi is known for moving from wooden boats to fiberglass production and for long-running series of production yachts.

Cranchi’s origins date to 1866, when Giovanni Cranchi started a boat-building workshop on Lake Como; the business was formally registered in 1870. In 1932, the next generation moved the operation to Brienno, where it expanded from workshop to shipyard. In 1970, Aldo Cranchi partnered with Tullio Monzino and the company moved to Valtellina to grow production. The brand has stayed under family control and still traces its identity to Lake Como and its northern Italian industrial base.

Cranchi builds motor yachts, with a range that has included open cruisers, hardtop yachts, and flybridge models. The company’s production history includes an early transition from wooden boats to fiberglass, which enabled larger-scale manufacturing and wider model lines. Cranchi has also been associated with repeat-production models that became long-running sellers, reflecting a focus on standardized construction and volume output. The builder presents its yachts as combining Italian design, technical refinement, and industrial production methods.
