2018 Custom McGowan Motorsailer
“TARI-ANN,” a 2018 48’ x 14’ 10”custom motor-sailor, harkens back to a day when oysters were dredged, by sail, on the Chesapeake Bay. A “buy-boat” was a common way that watermen could get their catch to market without leaving the oyster beds. Buy-boats worked the Skipjack sailing fleet and purchased the catch on site.
Tari-Ann, a composite cold-molded new construction, was designed and built to mimic the attributes and style of the vintage buy-boat. She’s been built for the yachtsman, with a flair for the nostalgic, using new construction methods and currently available quality materials. She’s powered by a Detroit diesel D-471 165hp engine, rebuilt in 2016, with 30 operational hours and an ONAN diesel generator that will provide necessary appliance power while underway or at anchor. With 4’ 9” shallow draft, Tari-Ann should find her way into most any port.
Please check her very long list of specifications and attributes.
Currently, Tari-Ann is located at the Tern Boatworks in Nova Scotia where she can be seen by appointment.
