There is a dynamic development of technologies in the yachting sphere. Boats become lighter and almost don’t need fuel. The founder of Q Yachts, Janne Kjelman, has worked for 10 years over the project of a silent yacht power unit. As a result, he founded an innovative electric propulsion system. It converts the energy of water or the sun by launching a magneto electric DC motor. The installation is considered to be high-tech in its sphere. Q Yachts developed and launched the Q30 boat project with a hydroelectric system.
A 9.3-meter boat Q30 weighs 1.5 tons and has a draft of 0.5 meters. Due to a top electric motor of 60 kW, the boat can pass without recharging 80 miles at cruise speed. It can be easily managed via the application on the iPad.
The hydrodynamic optimized shape of the frame provides silent and smooth glide over the surface of the water.
Unidirectional fiberglass and vinyl ether with foamed filler were used by making the boat hull. Vinyl ether is good for skiing in lakes or coastal waters. There is a recreation area on the boat and a minimalistic cabin at the bottom. Here the daylight comes through the porthole. Also, there are lamps, leather sofas, a small refrigerator and a shower room.
The Oceanvolt received the prestigious Pittman Innovation Award from the SAIL magazine.
