New marine, with a capacity of 150 people, will launch in November 2020 in Fiji. The main feature of the marina is that it will be the most environmentally safe place for yacht mooring in the world.
You will be able to get to Nawi Island not only by plane but also by yacht — by any yacht type and length from 39ft to 197ft. There will be a yacht-club, a filling station and a dry dock at the marina. There will also be spa centres, hotels and private villas within walking distance from the marina.
The reason why the marina will be environmental safe is that there will be prohibited to use disposable cutlery and other plastic things. Moreover, for the Marina and other facilities, all electricity will be supplied from solar panels that will be placed throughout the parking area.
Nawi Island Ltd’s managing director, Mike Gann, comments: “There will be zero use of plastic bags in any of the facilities. We intend to be one of the first green marinas in the world. In doing so, the development on the island will be powered by renewable energy, namely solar. We are also putting in place an organic wastewater treatment system for the whole island and in addition, the company is using sustainable and organic building materials on the island.”
The official grand opening is scheduled for the start of Copa América in March 2021.
