305ft Feadship Lady S became the first yacht with the IMAX cinema on board. Daniel Snyder, the owner of Washington Redskins became the owner of the superyacht in October.
Every year the consumer’s demands are growing. Many yachts have cinemas. Buyers often request a cinema on board as an additional option, but there has never been a private IMAX room before. The cost of Feadship Lady S (new name for Project 814) was $100 million, and IMAX cost $3 million. Two-store screen cinema designed for 12 seats. The owner receives his vessel this spring.
IMAX has very strict technological requirements, so the company took an active part in construction and design. IMAX specifications were so great that it was the yacht that was built around the cinema. It was not until the engine’s sound and vibration had been adjusted that IMAX approved the project: sound and special effects should fulfill requirements while watching the film.
«He wanted Imax, that was his main request,» — commented Ian-Bart Verkuil, Executive Director of Feadship Royal Van Lent shipyard, to the Guardian.
The yacht also has a helipad, four VIP cabins and a sports complex where it is possible to play golf, football, volleyball and basketball.
