The MAPFRE made a stop at the VOR

The leading MAPFRE team stopped to fix the mast for a round-the-world Volvo Ocean Race.

At the 7th stage of VOR Spanish crew made a stop near Cape horn to repair a torn mainsail, despite the championship. The team was able to compensate for damage due to temporary sailing weapons in 5 days in a row. However, to avoid further problems, skipper Haby Fernandez chose a good time: in the near future, high pressure will suspend other ships. So the MAPFRE will be able to catch up with the rest of the team.

If team makes halt during race, it has the right to return "in game" not less, than through 12 hours.

Other teams had to cross the Cape horn during the repair of the MAPFRE.
